Minimally invasive surgery

Myomectomy

The removal of fibroids while preserving the uterus, when there is an indication.

Requires individual assessment

01What fibroids are

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths of the uterine muscle. Many cause no symptoms; others may cause bleeding, pain or pressure.

02How the approach is chosen

The surgical approach depends on the size, number and location of the fibroids, among other factors. It is defined after the assessment and tests.

03Benefits, risks and limitations

Myomectomy may relieve symptoms in selected patients. It does not guarantee fertility or prevent new fibroids. Risks are explained individually.

Recovery times are approximate and vary from case to case.
