Colposcopy

An examination of the cervix with a magnifying instrument, recommended in certain situations, for example to study a screening finding.

Requires individual assessment

01How it is done

During the visit, the cervix is examined with a colposcope. Depending on medical judgment, a sample may need to be taken for analysis; not every colposcopy includes a biopsy.

02Who needs it

Not every patient needs a colposcopy. It is recommended when a finding or another specific situation justifies it.
